Out with the old, in with the new….

I am about to cut a more than a foot off my long pretty hair. I love my hair but it is driving me crazy. It is so long and thick. I am donating it to Pantene lengths. —–> https://pantene.com/en-us/beautiful-lengths.

I’m on vacation, I am going to organize my house, and get rid of all the junk. I am throwing a lot of junk away in my life. It’s a fresh start materialistically, and spiritually. Life is constantly changing and so are we. That is why we can improve for the better. I am going to simplify my life, and find peace. I am shedding things in life that are weighing me down, and ready to better myself. I want to go back to work more organized.

I felt pretty with long hair, but I need to be authentic with myself, I don’t need to hide behind my hair to be pretty. I am letting go of it. What are some things that you need to let go of in your life? What is weighing you down in life, that you need to get rid of? Do you have “junk” that needs to be thrown away?

I need to quit thinking negatively.

There is a study that says clutter makes one depressed. I believe that study. Clutter is stressful, let’s simplify, and get rid of things that are weighing us down.

I feel so much better.

  1. You are right people do hide behind hair. Clutter drives me crazy. I live a simple life with my husband. We try and donate as much as we can and keep the basics. We feel so blessed to have what we need. Your article was wisely written. Thank you. Love 💕 Joni

  2. Years ago, I let a hair stylist friend cut my waist length hair to just past shoulder length. It did not turn out well and I cried for days!! Now I no longer care and frequently dye it crazy colors, myself. If I screw it up, I just dye it again!! It’s funny to think how much my identity was tied to my hair. Now it’s thinning like crazy, which freaks me out… but I figure if it gets too bad then I’ll buy some over the top drag queen wigs and have fun with it!!
I applaud your donation and courage to change styles. I’m glad you liked the result!!

    1. Hi, Michelle—you do, indeed, have a busy life. I just stopped by to welcome you to annieasksyou.com. I hope you’ll visit often and comment as you see fit (and as is possible with your busy life!).

With regard to your hair, it looks lovely to me. But if you are having regrets about cutting it, I’ll share a comment a witty friend said to me years ago when I was having slightly different hair-related regrets: “If there’s one thing about a permanent, it’s that it’s temporary!”
